'COLIN FARRELL TRIES TO RESURRECT HIS ACTING CAREER IN DEAD MAN DOWN'

The plot of the movie revolves around Victor (Colin Farrell), an Hungarian immigrant who is determined to seek revenge against crime boss Alphonse Hoyt (Terrence Howard), with the objective of making Alphonse pay for killing his wife two years earlier to prevent a trial after his men also accidentally killed Victor's daughter.

To be able to achieve this Victor infiltrates the criminal empire run by the ruthless kingpin. Victor's first move was to make his way into Alphonse's crime syndicate. The crime boss receives death threats, one of which were weird pictures and puzzles being and the mysterious murder of Paul, one of Alphonse's henchmen. This then creates confusion in the crime world as Alphonse because of his insecurity blames the Jamaicans for Paul's death thereby resulting into a a shoot-out. Victor saves Alphonse's life and thus gains his trust.

Victor has also kidnapped the brother of Albanian kingpin Ilir (James Biberi), who was involved in helping Alphonse dispose of Victor's family. Victor plans to pool the Albanians and Alphonse's men together so he can eliminate them all at once.

As the threats increases, a man within Alphonse's crew and a friend of Victor's, Darcy (Dominic Cooper), investigates the source of the threats which he believes will win him some favour with the kingpin.

The high point of the movie was the introduction of Beatrice (Noomi Rapace)  a mysterious young woman who lives in the apartment across from Victor. Beatrice begins to contact Victor and show interest for him, and on their first date she reveals her true intentions claiming that she witnessed Victor kill a man in his apartments. She threatens to expose him to the cops unless he helps her carry out her own campaign of retribution. The rest of the story shows both of them develop an unusual relationship.

The movie Dead Man Down...I really cant place a finger on it. Can't say that I am impressed, but also won't say that it was bad. But it was a good attempt at displaying a man's thirst for revenge, which sadly feel like it started to wither as the movie progresses.

One of the problems I had with the movie was the way Alphonse dies. I must say I wasn't impressed, as a bad man (as we fondly call the antagonist in our clime) who is being hunted for killing the Actor's (also what we call the protagonist, or the good guy) family was killed rather too easy. The way the movie progressed, with Victor launching a full scale killing campaign against the kingpin's camp, I actually started to feel bad for Alphonse and imagined the pain that would befall him when Victor lay hands on him. But I will say no more. Readers, please watch this movie and tell me what you think.

"OLYMPUS IS STUPID VERSUS WHITE HOUSE CRAP!"

Cmon people (screaming)...really?! Is this what you guys referred to as some of the best movies for 2013?
I remember seeing the trailer for the movies 'Olympus has fallen' and ' White house down' a while back and was uninterested because if there is one thing I  have learnt, trailers over exaggerate!

But then I started listening, listening to people (which is the reason for my vexation) who said that this movies, which can be easily identified as replicas of 'RAMBO' and 'COMMANDO', (where they lie that one man can do what an entire army can not do) are very good.

CMON...ARE PEOPLE STILL PSYCHED OVER THESE KINDS OF MOVIES?! FOR REAL...REALLY, ARE YOU?!

These movies is just an attempt by the Americans to brainwash you into thinking they are untouchable, and you know what...you guys fell for it!

In Olympus Has Fallen, the White House (Secret Service codename: “Olympus”) is captured by terrorists. Disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning (Gerald Butler) seemingly finds himself trapped inside, in the wake of the attack. Using his inside knowledge ( and his attachment to the first kid of the USA...pleassseee), Banning works with national security in an effort to rescue the President (Aaron Eckhart) from his kidnappers and avert an even bigger disaster.

In White House Down – Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news ( why is there always a child involved), he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is suddenly overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the President, his daughter, and the country. Notice the similarity?

Well I understand that the movies were released around the time when Americans celebrated their independence this year (and this I understand may rejuvenate patriotism, I guess), but the unrealistic aspect of the movies should have been piped low. I can give you an instance.

In a scene in White house down, Channing Tatum's daughter can be seen arguing with a heavily armed terrorist, is that possible? Really? The child should be peeing in her pants!

There is one thing these movies have in common, they made the American security and its army look stupid. A statement by the bad guy in 'Olympus has fallen' where he said with a smirk 'that it took the United States Armed Forces 15 mins to respond to the mayhem, while it took him 13 mins to invade the White House' points to this.

Well, enough said! May e no be like say I dey spoil people market, or may America come deny me visa bcos of this post ( me too one travel go yankee na)...if you are a fan of things that make no sense, 'White house down' and 'Olympus has fallen' is a must watch! As for me, I have had enough of all the RAMBO and COMMANDO crap! Except any of you intend to argue that we do have some people that are a ONE MAN ARMY! ANYBODY?!

NEWS: HOMELAND SEASON 3 SET TO RETURN SEPT 29

For those that are not in the know of the series, here is an overview.

The series follows Central Intelligence Agency operations officer, Carrie Mathison who after conducting an unauthorized operation in Iraq, is put on probation and reassigned to the CIA's Counterterrorism Center in Langley, Virginia. In Iraq, Carrie was warned by an asset that an American prisoner of war had been turned by al-Qaeda.

Carrie learns that Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Marine Sergeant who had been reported as missing in action since 2003, has been rescued during a Delta Force raid on a compound belonging to America's most wanted terrorist Abu Nazir. Carrie comes to believe that Brody is the American prisoner of war whom her asset in Iraq was talking about. However, the federal government and her superiors at the CIA consider Brody a war hero.

Realizing it would be nearly impossible to convince her boss to place Brody under surveillance, Carrie approaches the only other person she can trust, her mentor Saul Berenson. The two must now work together to investigate Brody and prevent another terrorist attack on American soil. But there is a problem, Carrie is in love with Brody!

In Season 2, Carrie continues her hunt for terrorist leader Abu Nazir while maintaining a complicated relationship with Brody that straddles the line between personal and professional; Brody is nailed as a terrorist by Carrie and forced to become a double agent.

A THRILLER SIDE OF CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY WELL PLAYED!

For those of you who would see this blog and start dashing to the cinemas at the first sight of Channing Tatum (G. I Joe action guy, dancekid in Step Up, White house down hero...still not sure who I am talking about right? ok, the third guy from your left) and assume we are talking about an action movie which is normally filled with explosions and cars crashing and things flying (wonder why people see Vin Diesel's stunt in Fast and furious 6 as awesome, where he jumps of a car at impact in an attempt to catch Michelle Rodriguez...and SURVIVES) you will surely be mistaken. But there is one thing for sure, Side Effects?! One Word...Awesome! Not enough...WOW!!!

This Thriller Drama stars Jude Law as Dr. Jonathan Bank, a psychiatrist who is assigned to troubled Emily (Rooney Mara; Girl with the Dragon tattoo) after she drives her car into a concrete wall in a suicide attempt but agrees to her release from the hospital as long as she attends sessions with him on a regular basis.

Emily tries a series of anti-depressant medications, but none of them works. Jonathan contacts Emily's previous psychiatrist, Victoria (Catherine Zeta Jones, wife of film legend Michael Douglas), who suggests that Jonathan puts Emily on a new drug called Ablixa. Jonathan is reluctant to put Emily on the experimental drug until she attempts suicide a second time by trying to jump onto a subway track. The medication works, enabling Emily to function normally besides occasional sleepwalking episodes, a side effect of the drug which led to the demise of Martin(Channing Tatum), Emily's husband who was released after serving a four-year prison sentence for insider trading. who she stabs to death while sleepwalking, and the twist begins from here which involved all actors in a crazy web of controversies.

Side Effects has received mostly positive reviews from critics one of which is an 84% approval rating by Rotten Tomatoes, with the film given an average score of 7.4/10. Impressive you may say! Side Effects was released February 8, 2013 and placed number 3 in the box office that weekend, earning US$10 million (well...some of the best movies never really earned much sha).

Side Effects is a 2013 American psychological thriller film directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film stars Jude Law, Rooney Mara,Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Channing Tatum. The film concerns the ramifications of an event following a young woman being prescribed antidepressant drugs, in particular the fictional new drug Ablixa (alipazone).
If you like to be entertained and indulged on a critical and intellectual level, then Side Effects should be added to your must watch To do list. So start saving your money for cinema tickets because I promise you its worth the watch.

OBLIVION?! SMH...WHAT A BORING EXPERIENCE

For most of you who may think I am being over dramatic, please hear my story.
It was a few days after my wedding in May this year and basking in the euphoria of LOVE treated my wife to a wonderful evening at the movies.
Like me, my wife is a big Tom Crusie fan, so the idea of taking her to watch his latest movie Oblivion, well...you may say was expected.

Its the year 2077, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last drone repairmen stationed on Earth. According to Jack, the planet was nearly destroyed sixty years earlier, during a war against a race of alien invaders known as Scavengers ("Scavs"). The Scavs destroyed the moon, causing massive earthquakes and tsunamis, and then launched their invasion. They were only defeated by the use of nuclear weapons, which left most of the planet irradiated and uninhabitable. The few surviving humans migrated to a colony on Titan, which is powered using energy harvested on Earth by giant ocean-borne power stations that generate fusion power from seawater. From Tower 49, a base standing above the remains of the northeastern United States, Jack and his partner and lover Victoria "Vika" Olsen (Andrea Riseborough) work as a team to maintain the autonomous drones that defend the power stations from the few remaining Scav bandits. They receive their orders from Sally (Melissa Leo), their mission commander, who is stationed on the "Tet," a massive tetrahedral space station that orbits the Earth. Jack flies recon and repair missions to the surface, while Vic supervises from Tower 49.

A Scav signal beacon transmitting coordinates is followed shortly by the crash of a pre-invasion American spacecraft. Drones come and kill much of the crew, but Jack rescues a woman, Julia (Olga Kurylenko), recognizing her as the woman from his dreams. Julia says her ship—the Odyssey—was a NASA mission. They are captured by Scavs, who are revealed to be humans living in an underground stronghold. Their leader, Malcolm Beech (Morgan Freeman), claims that the alien invasion was a lie and demands that Jack reprogram a captured drone to destroy the Tet by delivering an extremely powerful nuclear weapon. When Jack refuses, Malcolm releases the captives but urges them to seek the truth in the so-called "radiation zone" that Jack is forbidden to enter.

Further explanation of the movie plot will stop here...wait na make I talk! Its not because I am trying to wet your appeite in a bid to get you to go watch it in cinemas because 30 minutes into the movie, I found myself asleep...not only me but also my beautiful and loving wife, and a few other people in the hall.

Oblivion is a 2013 American post-apocalyptic science fiction film based on Joseph Kosinski's Radical Comics-edited unpublished graphic novel of the same name.

Surprisingly, It performed well at the box office, particularly outside of the US. It is Cruise's twentieth film to gross more than $200 million worldwide.
Movie features a host of popular actors and actresses, Tom Crusie, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo and Zoë Bell.

STEEL VERSUS IRON

I sucked in the sciences back in secondary school, but one thing I do know is that Steel surely flaws Iron. Its not like I am taking sides (let me land before una bury me all of u Marvel peeps), but although I am DC (FOR LIFE...football should not be the owner of this statement joor), I watched the two movies with no biase, and if there is a vote, (permit me to speak for the majority), most of us will go with the MAN OF STEEL.
Late last year geeks like me were agog when we saw the trailers for the two super hero movies, and of course I and some of my jobless friends were already arguing over which movie was going to be better. But before I talk to much, let us do a quantitative analysis of the two movies. When I say quantitative, I mean how much the movies have grossed at the box office.

Reboot of the Superman film series, Man of Steel released june 14 2013 directed by Zack Snyder (300), produced by Christopher Nolan (remember him? the Batman trilogy producer? like duh), and scripted by David S. Goyer. The film has grossed more than $636 million at the worldwide box office.

Iron Man 3 is a 2013, produced by  Kevin Feige (uhm...ok who is he?) of Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures premièred April 14 2013. As of June 2013, it has grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, becoming the 16th film to gross over $1 billion. It currently ranks as the fifth-highest-grossing film of all time, ranks as sixth-highest-grossing openings for films and the highest-grossing 2013 film.

But no be by money jare, I have seen both movies and have sampled opinions, and the preferred movie between the two movies, Man of steel. Or what you think peeps?!

Finally, A MUSICAL FILM WORTH WATCHING! LES MISERABLES IS AWESOME!!!

The film tells the story of Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman), an ex-convict who becomes mayor of a town in France. Soon exposed, Valjean agrees to take care of  Cosette, the illegitimate daughter of the dying Fantine (Anne Hathaway), but as a fugitive must also avoid being captured again by police inspector Javert (Russell Crowe). The plot spans 17 years and is set against a backdrop of political turmoil, which in the film culminates in the  June Rebellion of France.

The film is directed by Tom Hooper, director of The King's Speech, scripted by William Nicholson, Boublil, Schönberg and Herbert Kretzmer, and stars an ensemble cast led by Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried, and the best part is, they all sang, they really did! Lovely voices!!!

Les Misérables is a 2012 British epic musical drama film. It has grossed over $430 million at the box office, making it the second highest grossing movie musical worldwide behind Mamma Mia! ($609 million).

The film is based on the musical of the same name by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg which is in turn based on the 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo.

For most of us guys who can not even stand watching Bollywood movies, I will tell you that you should expect a lot of singing, but I will also crave your patience because this movie is BREATH TAKING! My favourite part of the movie is the ending, but enough of the peep talk, go watch the movie!!!

NEWS: BATMAN AND SUPERMAN JOIN FORCES TO SAFE THE EARTH SOON?

Now there’s a rumor going around that there’s another film in the works that will utilize both Batman and Superman, which, for simplicity’s sake, will heretofore be referred to as Batman/Superman.

According to speculations, Warner Bros. has two plans for a Batman/Superman film. The first, and their preferred plan, is to feature Batman as the veteran superhero who takes Superman under his grizzled wing. Apparently, the hope is that they can convince Christian Bale – with the help of dump trucks full of cash, perhaps – to return to the franchise after Rises, despite Nolan’s absence.

The second path, if they can’t get Bale to return, is to feature Superman as the veteran superhero who takes a newly-cast Batman under his wing. In both scenarios, the studio would like to use Henry Cavill as the man of tomorrow.

On the other hand, Warner Bros. is interested in continuing the Batman franchise in some manner after Nolan finishes his tenure. Additionally, the recent DC Reboot will most likely see a veteran Batman create the Justice League, which will involve less experienced superheroes than the caped crusader, including Superman.

What do you guys think about this rumor? Do you buy it? Not buy it? Do you want to see Batman/Superman regardless?
