INCEPTION REINCARNATES IN TRANCE

If you were intrigued with the mind games of Inception, then Trance is the movie you need to see. Trance is a 2013 British psychological thriller film directed by Danny Boyle starring  James McAvoy (wanted), Rosario Dawson (Men in Black II, Sin City, Eagle Eye, Unstoppable), and Vincent Cassel (Brotherhood of the wolves).

Simon (James McAvoy), an art auctioneer, who because of his gambling addiction becomes involved in the theft of a painting from his own auction house. Franck (Rosario Dawson), Simon's colleague confronts
him at gunpoint and takes the painting from him. When Franck tries to check the painting, Simon attacks him and receives a blow to the head that leaves him with amnesia. When Franck gets home, he discovers that the package only contains an empty frame. Franck and his offsiders then kidnap and torture Simon, but he has no memory of where he has hidden the painting, so Franck decides to hire a hypnotherapist to try and help him remember.

The plot thickens when Franck (who I assume to be French in the movie) makes Simon choose a hypnotist from a directory, and he chooses a woman named Elizabeth Lamb.

Unknowing to Franck and his band of thieves, Simon and Elizabeth share a past together which Simon can't remember( not because of his amnesia anyway), and the mastermind of the theft of the oil painting is revealed during the course of the movie introducing a whole different story of romance, betrayal and buried memories. The movie later generates into a love triangle among Simon, Elizabeth and Franck.

The film received mostly positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes gives a score of 69% based on reviews from 151 critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a weighted mean rating out of 100 based on reviews from film critics, the film has a rating score of 61% based on 37 reviews.

The movie will have you glued to your seats and TV set while you anticipate knowing what would happen next or where the painting was hidden.

For those who like to watch movies critically and with an open mind, Trance is a brilliant choice.

Biggups to my man, Mfon Bassey for insisting that I watch this movie. Trance is a Brilliant Work of Art, if you get my drift!
